The Best Baby Clothing Brands You Need to Try
When it comes to dressing your bundle of joy, you want nothing but the best baby clothes on the market. Who doesn’t want a closet filled with the most adorable, cozy fashion items for their little one? From frilly dresses to corduroy overalls, there are so many options for baby clothing brands that it can sometimes be overwhelming. Asides from style, one thing I’ve noticed as a mother is fabric quality. Some feel more sturdy, some soft, some breathable – there are fabrics for every environment. But where are these fabrics coming from and are they safe? Which baby clothes are best?
Recent reports have revealed a high presence of “forever chemicals” in baby clothing (maternity clothes too) and more than half of the products tested contain them. These chemicals are known as per and polyfluoroalkyl substances, or PFAS. PFAS are typically added to fabrics to provide a water or grease resistant element which you will see in MANY mattress protectors, bibs, changing pads and clothing due to the “somewhat messy” nature of little ones1. These chemicals can cause developmental delays, accelerated puberty, bone variations, increased risk of cancers, reduced immune systems, and reproductive risks (just to name a few) when exposed2.
Although these chemicals are practically unavoidable, fear not, there are things you can do to limit exposure! Look for brands certified under the OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 which tests for textile safety. I’ve put together a list of the most reputable baby clothing brands safe for your little one after plenty of research. In this post, we will review the best brands of baby clothing I’ve tried so far. Time to get cute!
Posh Peanut
Posh Peanut is a popular brand found throughout the internet notorious for its Papook bamboo fabric. They have colorful prints on breathable fabric – perfect for warm summer nights. My son has two outfits from this company that have held up very well throughout the months. Sizing is true to size and very stretchy. Another thing to mention about this brand is the quality of their clothing. The construction looks and feels luxurious making it a stand out brand that is sure to last!
Monica + Andy
Monica and Andy is known for their fabric which is extremely soft and safe for both babies and children. They have a large selection of designs with bold prints. Keep in mind that the prints are typically limited edition and change frequently, so if you see something you really like – make sure to grab it while you can!
Hanna Andersson
Hanna Andersson is my go-to when it comes to cozy clothing for my son. I own sweaters from this company for my boy and I must say.. I’m pretty jealous. The clothes are not only thick and warm but incredibly soft. What I also love about this brand is that they have a “pre-loved” section where you can buy used clothes that are in great condition! Based on how well the clothing from this brand holds up, purchasing pre-owned items from this brand is a great way to save some cash and practice sustainable habits.
Kyte Baby
Kyte Baby is one of the most popular brands you’ll come across when looking for cute baby clothing. I own several pieces from this company- from rompers to pajamas and even sleep sacks.. I love it all. Their prints are subtle and not as “eye popping” as many other brands which is one of the reasons I love this brand so much. As far as fabric goes, the company offers “Original Bamboo” which is silky, lightweight and cool, ‘Bamboo Jersey” which is stretchy and durable, and “Ribbed Bamboo” which is more textured and cozy – perfect for cooler weather. They have both staple basics and limited edition prints that release frequently.
Colored Organics
If you’re looking for soft, organic cotton fabric in the cutest, most basic styles; look no further! The simple style of this brand is perfect for a mom like myself who wants safe, functional clothing that feels luxurious. I own baby rompers from this company and they certainly did not disappoint. My favorite part? The clothing kept its quality wash after wash with absolutely no changes. This is a rare find that you won’t want to miss out on! It’s also worth a mention that this company monitors its fabric production from the SEED of cotton growth. I think we all can appreciate how rare it is for a company to monitor its quality this far.
Mori
Mori is a genius when it comes to fabric blends. This brand blends organic cotton with bamboo from viscose to bring us quality thermoregulating fabrics. The way they manufacture their fabrics is also known to be gentle on eczema prone skin – a very common problem with newborns (including my own)! What I love most about their style is the muted tone color schemes and subtle designs. This is exactly what I look for.
Little Sleepies
Little Sleepies was founded with the intention of making good quality clothing safe for eczema prone skin. Lunaluxe is the brands notorious bamboo viscose fabric used for pajamas which is extra soft, stretchy and gentle. I always appreciate stretchy fabric because it allows for more “growing room”, in other words, it can be worn for a longer period of time giving you more bang for your buck! The brand also uses a fabric called Soluxe, a bamboo blend, geared towards daywear and play. Little Sleepies offers both standard prints and seasonal. They tend to be more whimsical and eye catching which children tend to love!
One thing you’ll notice about all the brands listed above is that they all source the best fabric and materials to make sure you’re little one stays safe. These are the brands I use for my little one and I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!
